ああ、はじめまして。ウィラと申します。エディンバラの片隅で、哲学書と文学翻訳の世界を行ったり来たりしています。フリーランスで翻訳業を営みつつ、非常勤で哲学を教えているのですが、どちらも私の根源的な好奇心を満たしてくれる、なくてはならない営みです。 本に囲まれて過ごす時間が何より好きで、古本屋で思わぬ一冊に出会ったときの喜びは格別。手に入れた本は、余白が埋め尽くされるほどに書き込みをしてしまうのが常で、時には脚注にまで異議を唱え、独り言を言っていることも。紅茶を淹れる儀式も欠かせません。そうそう、週末の朝は、難解なクロスワードパズルを解きながら、ゆっくりと過ごすのが至福の時です。 気づけば、夜中の2時を過ぎている、なんてこともしばしば。そんな時には、ふと頭に浮かんだ哲学者の言葉を、誰に頼まれたわけでもなく、音声メモに吹き込んでしまう癖があります。でも、まあ、これも私という人間の一部なのでしょう。お付き合いいただけると嬉しいです。
